Volvo C40 can now be ordered: Prices start at around 62,000 euros-volvo

The Volvo C40 is available from 57,890 euros. However, the Volvo share of the environmental bonus of 2,500 euros and an additional manufacturer bonus of 1,660 euros have already been taken into account.

The normal vehicle price is given as 62,050 euros.

The XC40 is around 1,600 euros cheaper at 56,250 euros. Here, too, however, it is the price after deduction of a Volvo premium, which is 3,000 euros here. The "correct" vehicle price is 59,250 euros.

According to the Volvo press release, the version of the C40 that is now available is a high-quality First Edition. This means that there will probably be cheaper variants with fewer features later. In any case, the new car can now be configured and ordered on the Volvo website. As an alternative to purchase, subscriptions are also offered at prices from 699 euros.

The competition of the C40 includes the Mercedes EQA in the most powerful all-wheel drive version, the VW ID.4 GTX (not yet configurable) and the practically identical Audi Q4 e-tron with all-wheel drive (and Sportback body). Two other models are not in the premium segment, but they should also be interesting: the Hyundai Ioniq 5 with an 800-volt system and the Tesla Model Y, which will not be launched until the end of 2021, for which the good Supercharger charging network speaks.

  Performance / 0-100 km / h Range / charging price
Volvo C40 300 kW / 4.7 sec. 420 km / 150 kW DC 62,050 euros
Mercedes EQA 350 4Matic 292 kW / 6.0 sec. 426 km / 100 kW DC 56,216 euros
VW ID.4 GTX 220 kW / 6.2 sec. 500 km / 125 kW DC 50,415 euros
Audi Q4 50 e-tron Sportback 220 kW / 6.2 sec. 491 km / 125 kW DC 55,600 euros
Hyundai Ioniq 5 73 kWh AWD 225 kW / 5.2 sec. 460 km / 220 kW DC 48,900 euros
Tesla Model Y Long Range n / a / 5.1 sec. 505 km / n / a. 59,600 euros

In our table, in which we have given better values, you can see that the Volvo scores particularly well in terms of engine power and sprint. But the Volvo is also the most expensive offer. Even the Mercedes is cheaper. Audi and VW have a long range, although the Tesla can go a little further. Finally, the Hyundai is ahead in terms of price and charging properties.

Volvo C40 can now be ordered: Prices start at around 62,000 euros-ordered

The C40 was presented in March. It has a few peculiarities compared to the XC40. Above all, it is only available as an electric car (while the XC40 Recharge is offered as a plug-in hybrid and as a pure electric). Second, the car is only sold online. And third, of course, it has a different body.

Like the XC40, the C40 is based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA). The drive is also the same: The C40 is only available as an all-wheel drive with two times 150 kW. The battery with 75 kWh net is also the same as in the XC40. The WLTP range is given on the Volvo website as 420 km, slightly more than the XC40 (418 km). Charging from 10 to 80 percent should take 33 minutes, can now be read on the Volvo website. In March there was talk of about 40 minutes.
