Volvo XC40 Recharge: That's he, he looks like it and he can-looks

The Volvo XC40 Recharge is the first member of the new “Recharge” family. Recharge is here as a preamble for all rechargeable Volvo models. This includes both the fully electric vehicles, as well as those with a plug-in hybrid drive.

Volvo wants to drive customers to alternative drives

However, you would like to control your own customers in the direction of fully electric models. For this purpose, Volvo wants to move the driver to use the electric driving mode “Pure” as often as possible. This should be achieved by an offer that reduce the individual operating costs and thus further increase sustainability.

From the beginning of 2020, customers who visit the Volvo website are first asked if they wish a Volvo Recharge car or not. In order to further promote electric driving, each plug-in hybrid model of Volvo Recharge is supplied free of charge for one year, which is provided by a refund of average electricity costs during this period.

The best option for purely electrically driving appears as Volvo XC40 Recharge in the portfolio of Volvo – as the only one currently. The market introduction is provided in 2019. Highest security as well as slim and clean design for an electric future are in the foreground. In detail, we have considered this below.

Volvo XC40 Recharge – All details in view!

With the fully electric Volvo XC40 Recharge Volvar, Volvar’s imported and ever-successful series has been introduced by the end of 2017 and since then. Already now customers can choose between gasoline and diesel and a plug-in hybrid. In the future, there is still the pure e-variant of Volvo.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge will come with a 78 kWh battery in the bottom of the vehicle. These food the vehicle with the necessary energy to be able to return up to 400 km to WLTP. The battery invites you to 80% of its capacity in 40 minutes with a quick load system.

The XC40 Recharge comes with four-wheel drive, e-motors on the front and rear axles, which bring it to a total output of 300 kW / 408 hp. The XC40 Recharge from Volvo is thereby accelerating in 4.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h.

On the development of a stand-alone E-platform you do not want to set by Volvo, as you look at this as wrong strategy. Instead, it is “much more natural, to say that it is a drive variant that will make up the majority of the sold vehicles” – this can only be achieved if e-cars will no longer appear as an exception in the portfolio, but for the solid size.

“We said that several times: Volvo Cars is the future electrical. Today we go with the introduction of our fully electric XC40 and the charging autoline an important new step in this direction.”- Håkan Samuelsson, CEO Volvo

With the Volvo XC40 Recharge you not only presents the first electric car of the company, but also the first Volvo with a brand new infotainment system based on the Android operating system of Google.

Volvo sees its own future more than ever electric

In order to meet the expected growth of demand for his e-cars, Volvo will triple production capacity for electric cars and awarded a designer’s choice selection of popular e-models from the next year, which offer the potential for radically shortened delivery times.

  1. Why 300 kW, why 4.9s? Can anyone explain to me? Is it really necessary, as much elek as possible. Energy in a short time to destroy? When using fossil fuels, this is more than questionable, but here I lack every understanding.

  2. Unfortunately, you do not understand a lot, I try it: the more force kW, the less wear and especially consumption. The faster and easier (power!) The target speed is achieved, the lower consumption. Whether 50 km / h or 100 are needed! When the target speed is reached only minimal consumption. The longer and more exhausting the acceleration takes, the more energy consumption. That’s why power is put on. There were no 4.9 sec. the aim, but technically “easy” achieved by the highest development capacity. joy! The aim was therefore not the speed of acceleration, not the final speed, but low consumption for a very heavy dyes. Exemplary, efficient, confidential, neat, volvo stop! So please!

  3. I do not quite understand why Volvo believes that its own platform is not necessary. Maybe I will be wrong and let me know better. I believe that a separate platform makes sense, as so the place advantage of an electric car can be used reasonably. I do not want to get into a Volvo XC40 with electric drive and find the same close space conditions as in the Volvo XC40 with a burner engine.
