Volkswagen’s latest model brings Brazilian temperament: the Taigo was developed in South America and built first. Now the small SUV coupe should also conquer the European markets.

No gap on the market that doesn’t matter at Volkswagen. This time it is an SUV coupe crossover in the small car segment. Practical that you actually already have it: it has been running in distant Brazil for around half a year and recently from the assembly line in Pamplona in Spanish "Nivius". Now it is built – visually a little changed – also built for the European market and has been the first car developed in Brazil from VW since the hapless VW FOX that has made it back onto the international market.

Visually, the Taigo largely corresponds to the Brazilian Nivius. The roof rail is missing. The overhangs at the front and, above all, the back are a bit larger. So the crossover comes to 4266 mm length, 1494 mm high and 1757 mm width. As a SUV coupe, the sideline is shaped by a reddoor line that ends in a spoiler, among other things.

Strikingly also the sharply cut fold lines that stretch along the side. Integrated into one of these lines: the handles of the doors. A narrow LED band from headlights runs to headlights at the front, only in the middle interrupted by the VW logo. The narrow headlights themselves are standard from LED. As a SUV, the Taigo offers a good view of the traffic process thanks to the increased seating position. With a wheelbase of 2.566 mm should be at least a decent space in the interior in the interior. The cargo area holds 438 liters.

Only petrol engine, no diesel, no electrical

There are only petrol engines and no diesel to motorize the front -driven taigo. And VW has not yet arrived in the electrical age: neither a hybrid version nor a pure electrical taigo is planned. The performance begins with the three -cylinder at 70 kW / 95 hp and continues with 81 kW / 110 hp. The strongest motorization delivers 110 kW / 150 hp from four cylinders. Accordingly, the achievable maximum speeds are 183, 191 and 212 km/h. The switch is either via a 5 or 6-speed manual transmission or via double clutch transmission with seven gears.The Taigo is built in the Spanish VW plant in Pamplona. Production start should be in late summer. Even with the prices, one may not yet comment on Volkswagen in concrete terms. After all: the entry price should be "under 20.000 euros" lie. Four equipment lines are planned: "Taigo "," Life "," Style "and" R-Line ". The Taigo in 28 EU markets as well as in South Africa and Turkey are to be offered.

    4 out of 5 customers think they drive VW and thus made in Germany to do the jobs here … secure!! Pech had all the money transferred to Brazil!!! You don’t believe how few cars from the VW Group are still manufactured in Germany!! Also high -priced products, z. B. Audi Q5 comes from Mexico, Q3 from Spain and the Q7 somewhere from Eastern Europe!! Beautiful new globalization, it makes the good -faith customers poorer and the group leaders and shareholders richer!!

    The fully digitized Wischi-Waschi alone prevents me from dealing with such a car. The VW soon (at some point) only build electro only believe the absolute fans. It is not for nothing that such a box appears here on the market…..
