Prices are around 3,000 euros higher than the ID.4
The third ID model is here: After ID.3 and ID.4, the ID.5 can now also be ordered. The coupe-like version of the ID.4 was presented at the beginning of November. The base price is 46,515 euros.
So far, only the ID.5 Pro and ID.5 GTX are included in the configurator.
If you opt for the version with rear-wheel drive, you have to choose between 128 and 150 kW drive power in the second configuration step. The ID.5 GTX, on the other hand, always has 220 kW. So there are three versions to start with:
ID.5 Pro | ID.5 Pro Performance | ID.5 GTX | |
drive | 128 kW / 235 Nm, RWD | 150 kW / 310 Nm, RWD | 220 kW / 310 Nm, AWD |
0-100 km / h / Vmax | 10.4 seconds / 160 km / h | 8.4 seconds / 160 km / h | 6.3 seconds / 180 km / h |
Power consumption | 16.9 kWh / 100 km WLTP | 16.6 kWh / 100 km WLTP | 17.9 kWh / 100 km |
Battery net / range | 77 kWh / 516 km WLTP | 77 kWh / 521 km WLTP | 77 kWh / 491 km |
Charging power | 11 kW / 135 kW DC | 11 kW / 135 kW DC | 11 kW / 135 kW DC |
Charging time (DC: 5-80%) | 7h30 AC / 29 min DC | 7h30 AC / 29 min DC | 7h30 AC / 36 min DC |
Reload range | 100 km in 7 min | 100 km in 7 min | 100 km in 6 min |
Reload range | in 30 minutes 390 km | in 30 minutes 390 km | 320 km in 30 min |
Base price | 46,515 euros | 47,550 euros | 53,615 euros |
Price of the corresponding ID.4 | not available at the moment | 44,915 euros | 50,415 euros |
All ID.5 engines use the large 77 kWh battery. Similar to the ID.4, it ensures WLTP ranges of around 520 kilometers for the rear-wheel drive vehicles, a little less for the GTX. The prices for the ID.5 are around 3,000 euros higher than those for the ID.4.
In contrast, the maximum charging power for the ID.5 is now 135 kW, i.e. 10 kW more than for the ID.4. According to the press release, the GTX even manages up to 150 kW – according to the configurator, it is only 135 kW here too. According to both sources, the GTX should be able to recharge electricity for 100 kilometers in just six minutes. For comparison: Porsche specifies a charging time of five minutes for a range of 100 km for the Taycan.
Recharge range: power for 100 km in 6 minutes
Despite the coupe-like shape, the ID.5 has only 12 millimeters less headroom in the rear than the ID.4, according to VW. The length is slightly larger at 4,599 mm (15 mm), as is the height (1,615 instead of 1,640 mm). The wheelbase is identical at 2.77 meters, the trunk has a capacity of 549 liters.
VW sales manager Klaus Zellmer explains the higher charging capacity with the software: "Our elegant E-SUV Coupe already offers the customer the new ID software 3.0. In concrete terms, this means: improved charging capacity and voice control ensure a high level of user comfort."

With over-the-air updates, the ID.5 should be kept up to date for a long time. Travel Assist bundles the assistance systems with swarm data, which is part of the Plus assistance package for 2,775 euros. Here, the distance cruise control also receives data that other vehicles have transmitted to the cloud. The local hazard warning with Car2X technology is standard on board.
Parking is also possible thanks to Park Assist Plus with a memory function (optional) more comfortable. You only have to park the car yourself once (for example in your home garage) and save the parking process. The ID.5 can then repeat the parking maneuver independently. In addition, VW promised bidirectional charging for the future.
ID.5 and ID.5 GTX are manufactured at the Zwickau plant alongside the ID.3, ID.4 and sister models Cupra Born, Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback. All of these models are based on the modular electrical construction kit (MEB). The Skoda Enyaq is based on this, but is manufactured in Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic.
