It should be the strongest and most luxurious model on the market and, as the fourth series, ensure sales growth among the British.

In 2016, the Bentley SUV will come, supposedly the "most powerful, fastest and most luxurious SUV on the world market". It should cost around 200,000 euros. Now the British luxury brand is revealing more details.
D.he first SUV from the British luxury brand Bentley is equipped with a twelve-cylinder engine. This has now been confirmed by Wolfgang Durheimer, CEO of the traditional company belonging to the Volkswagen Group. The noble manufacturer will also bring its first diesel vehicle onto the market. Bentley gave a first look at the new model with the EXP 9 F two and a half years ago at the Geneva Motor Show.
According to Durheimer’s statements, the new model planned for 2016 will be “the most powerful, fastest and most luxurious SUV on the world market”. Potential customers can assume that it will also be the most expensive. Although there is still no concrete information on price positioning, an amount of 200,000 euros may apply as a guide.
The twelve-cylinder engine is based on the W12 unit, which has been in use for a long time in the group, but which Bentley equipped with two turbochargers and developed between 560 hp and 630 hp in the various models in the Continental series. It is therefore not to be expected that the new SUV will be offered with less than 600 hp.

There may soon be another series with a W12 unit. Although it has not yet been pronounced openly, it is reasonable to assume that the announced SUV …powered by a twelve-cylinder Bentley.

At the same time, the VW Group will concentrate the production of its W12 units at the Bentley site in Grewe in central England. The workforce there, who are very experienced and competent in manual luxury production, also includes the processing of high-quality wood and leather interiors for the entire group.
A V8 engine is also planned
According to the planning of those responsible for Bentley, the first SUV with the twelve-cylinder gasoline engine will be expanded to the range of engines after just one year. Another premiere is planned during the expansion of the model series. According to Wolfgang Durheimer’s words, the decision on a diesel variant has been made.
However, it will not be the 6.0-liter diesel engine last used in the Audi Q7, but a V8 engine that is very likely based on the drive already used in the Audi A8 and VW Touareg. To complete the new model series, a plug-in hybrid would then come into consideration, as Porsche is now presenting for the Cayenne.

For a long time it was unthinkable that British manufacturers of fine sedans would enter the SUV business. At Bentley, the time will probably come in 2017, after the brand was also launched in 2012…f had shown a rather provocative vision of an all-terrain man at the Geneva Salon. And even at Rolls-Royce, the segment is no longer categorically rejected.

Bentley has been considering adding a diesel engine to its range for many years. For test purposes, sedans were equipped with it a long time ago, but they did not get beyond the test stage. Because the design of the diesel has a higher torque than petrol engines of the same displacement, this drive was considered to be very suitable for a type of locomotion typical of Bentley.
However, since diesel engines are not as well-liked in the two most important sales areas of the luxury brand, the USA and China, as in Europe, such a project had previously been refrained from.

Durheimer already has experience in transforming a pure gasoline engine supplier into a full-range supplier. As head of development at Porsche, he initiated the adaptation of the diesel engine for the Cayenne. The Bentley boss assumes that his company will be able to sell more than 15,000 vehicles worldwide with the help of the new luxury SUV well before 2020. That would be almost 50 percent more than at present.
