Red seats in the blue car? No, if you buy the SVR in Estoril blue (exclusively for this car), you will also receive a matching interior, the right thing is just missing at the moment…igen photo. And of course the steering wheel is also on the right side in the German SVR models.

Special Vehicle Operations is the name of a department at Jaguar Land Rover. When they get their hands on a Range Rover Sport, it becomes a car that could not have been imagined.
S.Let’s put it this way: Nobody, really nobody, needs this car. No one. And yet not so few people want it. 1600, says the manufacturer, have already ordered this car, 120 of them from Germany.
120 Germans, we don’t know them and would rather not get an idea of their motives, so 120 Germans will soon be driving a car that will take a top position on the open-ended scale of political incorrectness.
It comes from Land Rover, Range Rover is called, the nickname Sport adorns it, and then adds the letters SVR, for Special Vehicle Racing. The five-liter supercharged V8 puts 550 hp on the road, and it does so with a sound that the Porsche and Ferrari drivers from the neighborhood immediately go to the workshop to have their cars tuned.

Seriously: The V8 babble from the Range Rover Sport SVR initially generates incredulous astonishment, then bright enthusiasm – but over the years? Do you want to hear such a snotty sound over and over again, every time you drive to the office?
Well, with this car, equipped with four real sports leather seats and the option of using six-point seat belts, you might not drive to the office because you still have alternatives for this route. It’s like this: Anyone who spends 126,400 euros on a car is not scraping together the last cent, but owns other cars.
But if you don’t drive the SVR every day, then when? We were able to try it on the race track (Nurburgring Grand Prix course), where it was surprisingly good on the road.
In 4.7 seconds to 100 km
Sure, the center of gravity is higher than that of a real sports car, but otherwise the steering and handling give little cause for complaint. When you look at the speedometer, you are very surprised to see how fast you are. It doesn’t feel like it at all, because you’re sitting a little higher and not so cramped.
But woe, you have to slow down the 2333 kilos curb weight into a curve. Then you can feel in the driver’s seat what tires (21 or 22 inches) and brakes (15 inches, the size of some complete wheels) are doing.
With a bit of getting used to, you learn to respect the forces and also to apply the brake and accelerator pedals more sensitively in traffic. Otherwise it can happen that, in view of the brute braking forces and the torque of 680 Newton meters, you sometimes display a slightly jerky driving style.

The other, rather slow road users on the country road should in any case sweat with fear when this gigantic car becomes bigger like a big cat in the rearview mirror. Whoever drives the Range Rover Sport SVR must also consider that: reasonably good behavior is a must here.
Because 4.7 seconds pass only for the sprint to 100 km / h, the top speed is no, not 250 km / h, but limited to 260, and the Land Rover engineers have the fast lap on the Nordschleife in eight minutes and 14 seconds mastered.
Not bad for an off-road vehicle that can also really go off-road. Because sport and SVR – this variant of the Range Rover has not been set so deep that the car could not take part in expeditions.
Eight-speed automatic with reduction
All off-road electronics from the large Range Rover have remained on board, there is also a reduction for the eight-speed automatic, and the ground clearance is still very good at 272 millimeters. The fording depth is 850 millimeters, only the slope angles have become smaller in view of the aerodynamic attachments: at the front 30 instead of 33 degrees, at the rear 27.3 instead of 31 degrees.
But this off-road vehicle will probably never really see the terrain. And the racetrack? Also rather seldom. In this respect, the Range Rover Sport SVR is a kind of double subjunctive. He could if he wanted, and in two ways.
But if his driver doesn’t want either, then one can ask why he’s buying such a car. The answer is actually quite simple: Because he can.
