Toyota sold almost 1.08 million vehicles in Europe last year. That is 8.4 percent more than in 2020. Market share rose 0.4 points to a record 6.4 percent. In the past three years, the automotive group with the two brands Toyota and Lexus has increased by 1.4 percentage points . Toyota is now the second strongest car brand in Europe behind VW. The most popular models are the Corolla, Yaris and RAV4, accounting for over half of total sales.The Japanese group has announced electric cars, but not yet in the program. The classic petrol hybrid models, which have meanwhile also replaced the diesel drive in most Toyotas, are very successful.

Toyota in Germany weaker than the EU average

According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, Toyota came in at 71 in Germany last year.890 new registrations. That is 6.8 percent less than in the previous year, but the brand cut off better than the overall market, which had a minus of ten percent. The market share was 2.7 percent. Lexus sold 3116 cars in Germany (minus 11.7 percent). This corresponds to 0.1 percent market share. (awm)
