There can be no question of comfort in this cockpit, but at least the racing seats hold the driver and front passenger firmly in place.

The steering wheel in the GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo doesn’t really deserve this name, after all, it’s not round. It is much more reminiscent of the steering wheel of K.I.T.T.…1990s TV series "Knight Rider".

The 503 hp GTI Roadster can now be downloaded for Gran Turismo 6. If you enjoy the car on the Playstation, you can see it live at the GTI meeting on Lake Worthersee.
D.hat is a made-to-measure suicide mission: when the full-throttle faction gathers at the Worthersee on the coming holiday weekend for the 33rd edition of the legendary GTI meeting, the VW Group sends its most loyal customers a whole fleet of spectacular show cars, with which the Lower Saxony Literally bringing lake to a boil.
Because 150,000 fans are also 150,000 potential buyers, for whom you can bend a few extra sheets and get the board of directors out of their short vacation. Once again, the crowning glory comes from Wolfsburg itself – with perhaps the sharpest GTI of all time.
That applies less to the performance of the double-charged VR6 engine, which with 503 hp and 665 Nm is not that bad and should enable top speeds of more than 300 km / h. That applies even more to the body.
Because, analogous to the Mercedes Vision GT and Toyota FT1, the design team first made the GTI a hit for the Playstation and then put this virtual hot spur on the road on a 1: 1 scale. And because you can’t score well between Formula 1 cars and super sports cars, the GTI for Gran Turismo becomes a radical roadster with an ironing board spoiler that would steal the show from any Lamborghini.
A mega Ibiza as a futuristic roadster
The Worthersee show car from Audi, on the other hand, looks almost tame – although the A3 Clubsport Quattro is also a small sensation on its own. Because under the hood of the ostentatiously upgraded sedan is the so far most powerful version of the 2.5-liter five-cylinder, which instead of 360 hp in the TT RS now produces an insane 525 hp and has a maximum torque of 600 Nm.
That’s enough for a sprint of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 310 km / h – and will drive every Porsche driver to despair. Because to stick this Audi to its large tailpipes, you have to give a 911 quite a spur.
While Audi is primarily building up strength, the daughters from Spain and the Czech Republic are very sunny: Seat is celebrating the 30th birthday of the Ibiza at Worthersee with a futuristic roadster based on the 180 hp Cupra and at Skoda the trainees have the CitiGo small car made open CitiJet.
GTI meeting brings a lot of money to the region
It is true that one can be divided about the beer mood and Ballermann mood at the Worthersee meeting and it is difficult to believe that subtle managers such as CEO Martin Winterkorn and his supervisory board boss Ferdinand Piƫch make much more than good mine a colorful game. But at least one person takes the sincere joy of the wild spectacle from the first go: Adolf Stark.
This is the mayor of the 1500-strong community of Maria Worth and for him the GTI meeting is something like winning the lottery, which is repeated every year. Not only that its 2140 guest beds are booked out months in advance and that the Worthersee has been on everyone’s lips worldwide since the event.
When the number of inhabitants increases one hundred times overnight, something else gets stuck: 17 to 20 million, to be precise. In any case, this is how much Stark estimates the additional income the festival brings to the region. No wonder that he doesn’t take it that seriously for the few days with the noise pollution, the serving of alcohol and the TuV rules.
