The car will be unveiled next Friday
Xpeng plans to introduce a new electric car at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 19. The Chinese electric car manufacturer has now officially announced this. A teaser picture showing an SUV was also submitted. Officially there is no other information, but Cnevpost reports that it is supposed to be a G-series model.
The "G-Series" currently consists of a single model, the compact SUV called G3, which was launched in 2018. In addition, Xpeng only has the P7 sedan so far, the somewhat smaller P5 sedan will be added soon. The newcomer is Xpeng’s fourth electric vehicle, if you think of the recently presented robot horse and the flying car disregards.
If the G-series includes the electric SUVs from Xpeng, then a "G-Model" (when you hear this term, Germans automatically think of the Mercedes off-roader) would make sense. The number behind it should be odd as with the other models.
Citing the Chinese website yiche.com, Cnevpost writes that it is supposed to be a mid-range SUV. It is said to use the same platform called "Edward" as the P7. The platform then supports wheelbases between 2.80 and 3.10 meters; the new model should be 3.10 meters, according to the report. That would be ten centimeters more than the P7.
The car should have lidar technology and a modern, semi-autonomous driving system and support XPilot 4. In addition, the car should introduce a new brand look. This apparently also includes a new brand logo in which the previously used "X" is to be given a slightly different shape. The market launch should not be until the fourth quarter of 2022, i.e. in about a year. The price is said to be 300,000 yuan, which is the equivalent of around 41,000 euros.
